Bringing Stargate the movie and Stargate SG-1 together to have their differences reconciled.
Reconcile: To bring into agreement or harmony; make compatible or consistent.
Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone will like this gallery. This gallery is in dedication to my girlfriend who loves Stargate and it is also for all the Stargate fans out there. All of your support in my previous gallery was overwhelming and inspiring. I wanted to do something for the Stargate fan community here on Deviant Art, so I made this gallery to be completely devoted to my Stargate art. I intend on having many more pieces in my gallery in time. I am working on many photo manipulations right now. I hope to have them done soon but I will not give any time frame on them just in case I dont meet my own deadlines.
I learned a few valuable lessons the last time I made my Stargate artwork in my other gallery. I learned that my best piece and most favorited of the Stargate pieces was Anubis. And I also noticed that I was highly disappointed with the quality of my other pieces. Well I figured out why. It took me about seven hours to draw the Anubis piece and it took me two hours to do every piece after that and it showed. The quality of my gallery went down significantly in my mind. The community here on Deviant Art did a great job of encouraging me and many people still liked my pieces, but I was dissatisfied with them. You might think it is common sense that if you spend more time on something it would naturally be better but that is not always the case. Sometimes you can do too much to a drawing and end up messing it up. I have also seen artists that can whip something out in a few minutes that looks like a masterpiece and Ive seen other artists spend long hours on something that looks like something a three year old can do. So I never considered time as a factor in my artwork until now. I have noticed that the more time I put into my drawings the better they look. However, I can be very impatient when drawing. I get ahead of myself and try to rush things too much. I also felt like the fans of my art were expecting new artwork and I wanted to rush new pieces out to make them happy. By doing what I had done I realized that I sacrificed quality for quantity. So I am remedying that situation now with this gallery. That is why I did not put up this gallery until I already had many pieces finished so that there is something to look at for a while. This time I am doing the gallery for my girlfriend, for myself, for practice, and for fun. If I have fun and I take my time and put more attention and detail into my work the better the quality will be and in turn it will be something the Stargate fans here on Deviant Art will want to favorite.
With all of that said, I am still a beginner. I am a new artist and have never had any art classes or any formal training. It is my dream to go to art school but right now time and the lack of money will not allow. I have never had any training or experience with Photoshop so my photo manipulations are obviously very amateur pieces but I did my best. Some of my photo manipulations took me painstakingly long hours and I still was unable to get my desired results. I have tried online tutorials but I havent found much on what I am trying to do. The tutorials I have found were vague and not very helpful. So the lighting and shadows on some of my pieces are wrong but hey, Im still learning right?
Also, you will notice in my photo manipulations that I am using a lot of free stock space art made by *Funerium that I found on =resurgeres page of free stock. I do not know how to make realistic space images like that yet. I say yet, because I am practicing and trying to learn how. I have made countless space scenes and love making them but none of them look realistic enough to use in a photograph. So for right now I will be using *Funeriums free space stock until I have improved enough to make my own. I do want my artwork to be 100% original, but I am currently at a stage where I am unable to make that caliber of a realistic looking space scene. So please be patient, new stuff is coming. I am already working on some other pieces as I post this journal.
So this gallery may be a slowly growing gallery but it will be growing none the less. I have a lot of ideas in my head and a lot of things I want to portray in my art. I also have high hopes of making my gallery a very colorful one. I currently have a lot of black and white hand drawn images, but once I learn how to paint them digitally I will have full color images. If any of you have any insight or pointers on how to improve send me a note. I would love to get a note from anyone about techniques or tutorials I can check out, so on and so forth. If anyone wants to help me out or have a collaboration with me feel free to ask me in a note and I will get back with you. I do check my Deviant Art account regularly.
Also, if anyone knows where I can find really high quality images of Stargate related things, please let me know. My library of reference images is very small and the images I have are blurry and pixilated a lot. So many of my drawings are guesswork and watching the Stargate movie frame by frame. Hehehe
Ultimately, I want my gallery to be something that I remember having fun making and something that inspires other artists to make other Stargate artwork. I have already referenced some of the artists and images that inspired mine so I hope mine will also inspire others as well. I really appreciate all the friendships I have made and all the appreciation I have gotten already considering I am an amateur artist with a very small profile compared to some other amazing artists that I look up to and aspire to be like. I hope we can grow the Stargate art on Deviant Art and have fun as a community of Stargate appreciators. Maybe Dean Devlin will see the site and be inspired to make another movie. Hehehe
Anyway, thanks again to everyone! My other gallery
Oh, and before I start getting notes from people asking me about this, the old Stargate artwork I made in my *LockhartSkye gallery will remain. I am going to remake each and every one of them in a much higher quality version, but I will not remove them from their place. They shall remain just in case someone likes the old ones better than my new ones. You can all be expecting a lot of drawings of many types and designs, styles and angles of Jaffa that I have thought up in my head.
